Feature Release 0.7.3!

(click the image for a larger view!)

After a long period of absence we finally managed to provide you a new release of M.A.R.S.! In order to abbreviate the time of waiting for networking, we decided to implement some little features you can try and have fun with.

Feature Overview

New Special!

We built in a new source of incredible evilness: the Shocker! This electrifying thingy provides the power to smash your enemies (and friends) with mighty-looking bolts.

New Weapon!

Now you can use the elementary force of water by equipping the H2OMG! With its enormous mass of bubbling bubbles it is the perfect weapon for those who want to get rid of every foe in sight.

Note: You probably have to enable the Shocker and the H2OMG in the weapons menu to use them in game.

New Languages!

Two new translations arrived us within the last months, namely Dutch, Mongolian and Norwegian, summing the total amount of supported languages up to 19. Thanks to all the translators (Carlo von Ranzow, Team Gaval and IGLO.no)!

New Game Option!

It is now possible to regulate the game speed manually! You can find a new entry in the Gameplay tab of the options menu. Have fun playing M.A.R.S. at different speed levels!

Bugfixes:

  • The balancing of the weapons has been improved.
  • Little spelling mistakes in some translations have been corrected.
  • Through the use of a more recent sfml-version some things work better now (e.g. plug and play of gamepads while the game is already running).

Let’s go ahead to the DOWNLOAD SECTION!

I mean that this weapon does not do any damage to enemies and vice versa.

You’re right. Strange. No idea how this could happen :D

But well, we discovered already some bugs:
    * it’s not possible to select the special FireWall when cycling through the specials in both directions (just one works)
    * sometimes the Insta in Grave-Itation Pit doesn’t work, it doesn’t kill entirely
    * damage numbers are not displayed on local player’s ships (when hit by a weapon)
    * WT-Flamer does no damage

Well it’ll be time for a bugfix release :D

Anybody some other bugs to add?

Awesome game, I laughed a lot when playing.
I like the new weapons balancing, can finally use something else than shotgun.
I want to suggest some more options/features (on/off):
    - disabling friendly fire
    - proper space traveling (if you fly top you appear bottom, same with left right, not just hit boundary walls)
    - setting ship hit points (for players, and different for computers)
    - mouse steering/aiming? would be easier to target
    - map scaling (to allow also a bigger space to fly)
    - number of planets (custom or random from, to, size?)
    - yeah networking would be cool
