We do a lot of research the last weeks and therefore do not have the time to push M.A.R.S.’ development as fast as we did in the past.
Nevertheless we try to have an eye on everything that influences our game, such as some bug fixes in SFML.
Furthermore a new translation arrived: Thai. Thanks to Manoch!

Therefore we decided to provide a new release that includes this beatiful language and improved features of SFML.
The most important thing related to M.A.R.S. is probably the fix of the well known “ATI-bug“, which made it quite hard to run M.A.R.S. under Windows with an ATI graphics card installed. In consequence the provided workaround is obsolete.
You can download the new version here.
Currently the Windows version, the generic Linux version and, of course, the ppa contain the new release. All other packages hopefully will follow soon.

@Henrik: Well, your problem sounds odd. For me everything worked (also 10.10 and 64 bit). Are you sure there are no other (older) versions of sfml2 left on your system? Maybe in some other directories? Those may be found earlier by M.A.R.S….
The PollEvent-problem is fixed with libsfml2 2.0-1901ppa0~maverick0.

Unfortunately it still segfaults on ATI for me when changing graphics settings so sfml2 is still not 100% free of ATI-bugs

And after the end of match, Restart game button must be pressed to continue into the next match and you can have any number of matches that you want (before it was only five matches at one go, I think).

Posted on May 24, 2011 at 15:23The occuring lags may be caused by loading the new music files. We do not know how sfml’s music file loading is implemented nor if we use everything correctly concerning to this. So we will definitely have a look at it again.
Pressing the restart button after a game ends is not a bug but a desicion in game design: we thought it would be more intuitve to have a button that “starts a new game” rather than having one saying “restart game” and asks if you really want to do so. In conclusion a game is thought of as one encapsuled match and not as a series of matches. Maybe this is going to change again in the future.

The folder AppData may be hidden – so you’ll have to display hidden files!
Simply delete this file to reset all options. Or open the file with wordpad and change the settings…
